It's time for my next project . . .

Now that the Wine and Cheese Shoppe is complete, it's time to dive into a new project for my mice. I have had this house for a while and it's going to be Roquefort and Edam's new home. It's a Pottery Barn Kids bookshelf. I managed to find it on Marketplace and was sooo thrilled to find one as I had been searching for a while for this beauty. As you can see it needs some serious cleaning up and love.

I opted to remove the pretty "gingerbread" from the bottom which was a hard call, but I thought it would get in the way and hinder my creative process so I carefully removed it and yes, I was able to get it off in one piece and it has been saved just in case I ever change my mind. I also removed one of the walls from the center section so that I could have more room to "play". In case you are wondering, to remove a wall you need to carefully disassemble the dollhouse remove the wall and then put it back together. Thankfully, I have a very sweet 17 yo. who was more than happy to help his mom out with this one as it required a few extra hands.

So far my plan is to have the kitchen and dining room on the ground level. Bathroom and living room on the second level. Master bedroom and child's room on the next level and I think I will create a special grandparent suite on the top floor. However, this could all change once I get into it.

I thought it would be fun if we did this project room by room so you watch it all come together. Keep in mind this may take some time and there will be bumps along the way, but that's the beauty of this...there is no right or wrong. It's all about letting your imagination run wild and watching the whole things come to life.

I have already started collecting a few pieces for this house and I am super anxious to get started. I think we will start with the kitchen! But before I get started I need to decide on my "look". So, I think I will spend some time on Pinterest and come up with an inspiration board to get my ideas together and come up with a plan. Hmmmmm, I'm thinking "cottage". . .
