Morning Knitting and a trip to the Post office. . .

Poor Fontina, she still has not mastered knitting. She has tried and tried but it just escapes her. This morning she sat down with Cam in their family room while the girls were upstairs playing in Emmie's room and she picked up her needles and yarn to try again. Fall is in full swing and before you know it winter will be here so she wanted to try again to learn how to knit and perhaps knit a few sweaters for everyone!

Meanwhile Camembert is busy working on his laptop and enjoying his mid morning espresso, but he could hear Fontina's frustration and in typical Cam fashion offered sweet words of encouragement but Fontina was getting more and more frustrated. After a while, she set down her work knowing this was not going to be successful and she headed off to her sewing room... Cam could hear her rattling around in there but opted to "not go there" because he knew she was frustrated.

Within a few minutes Fontina had packed up a box of yarn and she was on her way to the Post Office. She had a plan... She was sending a box of yarn to her dear mousey friend Matilda in Australia, because Matilda can knit like a dream!!! So, Fontina is going to let Matilda do what she does best and let her make up a bunch of warm and cozy winter sweaters for them instead!

Fontina grabbed her sweater from her friend Susan who lives in England and was on her way into town headed towards the Post office. She hadn't been there in a few days and was so excited to see all the little improvements that Grandpa Gruyere had made. She especially loved the vintage stamps he used as posters to give the PO a bit more charm and check out the old timey phone on the wall!

They chatted and caught up on the latest Cheddar Hollow news including the excitement of Roquefort's new specialty food shop which will be opening soon! They got the package all signed and sealed and on it's way across the world to Matilda...we can't wait to see what darling things she sends back!!!

Note:

This is a bit of a true story. I cannot knit to save myself. However, I did manage to knit the tiny bit that Fontina has on her lap, and yes that's cotton thread on toothpicks! Don't ask!!! So, indeed my dear sweet mousey friend Lorinda is amazing with knitting needles so I did actually send her a box of yarn and indeed she is going to be making some mouse sized sweaters for my mice. I sent a care package of yarn ( and a bunch of other mini things ) all the way to Australia for her to enjoy and not only make my mice a bunch of sweaters but also so she can make some for her mice as well...and yes, her mama mouse is named Matilda! I just love this community!!!!
