The Big House
I want to clarify a few things before we get started on the "new mouse house". I actually have not one. but 2 mouse houses. Yes, the insanity is for real! This one is my BIG mouse house. And when I say big I mean huge! It is actually 2 PB dollhouse bookshelves side by side that I have turned into one gigantic house. This sits in our main living space in our home and it is quite the conversation piece and interactive piece of art that my entire family gets a huge kick out of. It's not unusual for me to walk past and find that mice have moved around the house and are often found in silly circumstances.
So back to this monstrosity. Well, let me just say that I had soooo many ideas there was just no way possible that it was all going to fit into one house. So go big or go home, right!? lets start with a little tour. On the bottom level there is a laundry room/mudroom where the Maus family is able to take care of storing all the items needed for keeping a tidy house. then there is the spacious kitchen where Fontina makes the most amazing meals for her family. This kitchen is fully equipped and she has all the latest appliances and cookware needed to create gourmet meals. Next to the kitchen is the families pantry where they store all their non perishable food items. along with extra bakeware and serving pieces that need storing when not in use. Finally the formal dining room where they have their family meals and host dinner parties and other gatherings. The second floor is home to Fontina's sewing studio, the family bathroom, a large living room complete with a music area including a piano and finally on this floor is Cam's office. on the third floor is the nursery currently being used by sweet little Emmental and next door is the master suite and right beside on the other side is Little Brie's big girl room which is conveniently located right beside the playroom. finally we added another room above the playroom which is currently being used as an attic but as their family grows it may one day be turned into another space for their children to sleep.
This house took months to complete and is ever evolving. I have added lighting to all the rooms and have plans for future improvements. I hope you loved getting to take a mini tour of the main mouse house. I will be sharing each room one at a time so you can fully take in all the details and perhaps getting a bit of inspiration for your own mouse house.
