the kitchen (part 2 )

Now it's time to have some real fun and "dress the room"! I started by adding a bit of sweet floral paper to the back of the cupboard to give it more "Cottage Charm". Then I created one of my farm house signs above the sink/stove to add more character as well as a pop of color. Finally a fun little pot rack to display their growing collection.

Now let's dress up this sink/stove to make it a lot more fun!

Look what a few little accessories can do to totally bring this area to life! A crock filled with tiny utensils, a tiny spice cabinet, and some of Edam's favorites. . .pink cottage roses at the sink. I also added a tiny wooden crate used to store extra kitchen equipment in a stylish way. . . but it's still missing something!

Yes! much better. It just needs a bit more color so a tiny pink gingham tea towel did the trick!

Now let's see what we can do with the pot rack!

That was easy. . In case you are wondering. I found the pot rack on Etsy, then spray painted it and secured it to the wall with some wire. It's not going anywhere!

Time to add all kinds of goodies to the cupboard. Classic Maileg mixed with a bit of Aizulhomey and some curated treasures. Ohhhhh wait!

It needed a bit more cuteness so why not add a little runner made from the same print as the tea towel!

Onto the kitchen island. . .

As you can see I just added a few little tiny bits and pieces to create a sweet little scene. The Maileg cheese cloche, a few small water bottles, some minty canisters, cutting board and loaf of French bread.

Underneath are a few colanders and a basket for holding more extra bits and pieces.

Now for the overall reveal . .

I must admit. . . I am quite pleased with how the entire room turned out! There is a lovely blend of Maileg pieces as well as lots of curated pieces I have been collecting for quite a while. I hope you enjoyed watching this space come together and it has inspired you to be creative as well.

Before I sign off for today I do want to give a special shout out to my sweet friend Michelle. Her beautiful mouse house is where I first saw the cupboard and thankfully she was kind enough to share with me a bit more about it. It is a vintage find. But with the magic of the internet and some persistent searching I was able to locate one for myself. She also inspired the pot rack idea, but I chatted with her about these first before I added them to my house.

Here is the deal. . . they say that "imitation is the greatest form of flattery" however, there is a fine line between being inspired by some one else's work and just flat out copying them! So yes, be inspired, but march to your own drummer! Be sure that whatever you do is a reflection of yourself and your own personal taste and not someone else's. You will feel so much better about yourself knowing it came from within you. Jumping off my soapbox now.

Stay tuned, next we tackle the mouse house bathroom! I cant wait to get started. . .
