The living room ( part 1 )
I have been busy working on the living room this weekend. I have my inspiration board all ready and it was time to get busy and actually make some furniture and also re-purpose a piece I have but I needed to figure how how to make it work in my pretty little French Country room. I decided to start by attempting to make a sofa for the very first time. what a daunting task that was. I spent a fair amount of time just sitting and thinking about the best way to go about it. Then finally when I thought I had a solid plan I opted to put it into action. Knowing full well there was a bit of a learning curve and huge potential for disaster.
much to my surprise I was able to make something I was pretty pleased with on the first try, and in all honesty it was pretty easy. It's amazing what you can do with foam core board, and some fabric and a glue gun. Thankfully, I am also pretty handy with a sewing machine so making the fabric covered pieces was pretty simple. Of course the sofa needed some toss pillows to accent. You can see that I am just starting to mess with furniture placement and trying to decide what looks good where. I am waiting on my fireplace to arrive later this week and it's going to be absolute torture because now I am very inspired and anxious to continue but sadly I am going to have to be patient.
My next project was to flip this chair. It's one I found ages ago on ebay and it was just horrible, but I like the basic shape and size so I opted to give it a go. I started by painting it white with some chalk paint..because I didn't want the awful fabric underneath to show through. This one also took some thought but in the end I am pretty happy with the result.
Pretty cute! Right?!
I also styled the little armoire with a bunch of cozy comforters I put together and some vintage linens peeking out here and there. Then I had fun making a fun little basket which I added more pillows too for a little more whimsy and cottage charm.
for my last project I wanted to make over a Maileg lamp I had. Although it's adorable the shade didn't match...so I made this little shade cover to slip over the top and give it a whole new look!
So, that's all for today. Time to pack up the glue gun and pick up my mess. Then decide what I want to work on tomorrow...I am thinking art work for the walls who knows what else I may come up with. Check back soon to check on my progress.... Thank you as always for stopping by to visit! I hope I have inspired you to create or at least put a smile on your face with my miniature madness.
