Today, it's all about rugs!
A fantastic way to add cozy charm to your mouse house is with rugs! I am always trying to think up new and clever ways to make fun floor coverings to add more whimsy to mine. These are just a few examples of things that I have come up with. I am in love with the woven rag rug that Maileg created a few years ago and I may try to recreate something like it in the future. If I do I will be sure to let you know how it worked out. If it's a success I may do a tutorial for you to try it too. But, it all remains to be seen it may be a total bust. But in the meantime I have come up with some pretty options you might want to try as well.
a braided rag rug
a chenille rug
a coiled rag rug
a hand crocheted
a rope rug
a coiled rag rug with decorative accents
a fabric rug with decorative trim
doilies ( purchased )
a printed rug with decorative trim and fringe ( I will be sharing my DIY recipe for this one )
These examples vary in difficulty and skill levels. I love each of them for different reasons and really enjoyed the process of trying new things. Some day, when I have too much time on my hands I would also love to try a cross stitch rug and a needlepoint one as well. But those are very time intensive and frankly, even though I know how to do both. The concept of making a rug in either of these styles is a bit daunting. So for now, I will continue to try other ways to make fun floor coverings for my mice to enjoy.
How about you? I would love to hear what clever things you have done for rugs in your mouse house.
