What's happening in Cheddar Hollow?
I know it's been ages since I shared any updates on the happenings in Cheddar Hollow. Alas, my creativity took me elsewhere for a while but I am back and anxious to spend time with my little mousey friends again. So, much has happened since we last visited this sweet little community. Many new families have moved in and the town is growing by leaps and bounds. So, let's catch up a bit on some of the latest news and new comers.
First things first. With the community growing Camembert Maus felt the need to improve their ability to be self sustaining. Therefore he has implemented a few new sources of energy to run the town in a very "green" way. He has installed 3 new windmills, several more homes and businesses now have solar cells and he is very excited about the new hydro-electric facility installed at the mill. The entire town is so proud to be a eco friendly community and they hope to add more "clean" features in the near future.
Edam Fromage, our resident nurse/"mouse-wife" has opened up a free clinic in town. The facility is open to all who need medical assistance. Edam also offers "well mouse" check ups, free vaccinations, and a host of other services. She is also holding natural birthing classes to those expecting parents who might be interested. Edam is a talented "mouse-wife" and has delivered many mouse-lings in Cheddar Hollow.
The town council has also approved the building of a "Mousessori" school in Cheddar Hollow and the mice are abuzz with excitement. This will be such an exciting addition to the town and a wonderful opportunity for the children as well. They are currently searching for the perfect teacher to set the tone for the new school. There have been many applicants but so far the perfect candidate has not been found.
A new and exciting business has moved into Cheddar Hollow. A domestic services boutique owned by the brother and sister team of Cotija and Queso Manchego. They offer a variety of services. Everything from cleaning to help with large parties and events. These two have been incredibly busy since the day they arrived and may soon need to expand their business and hire a few more employees to keep up with the demand. Congrat's to them on such a success.
Finally, we are happy to announce the new bookstore/juice bar that will be opening later this fall. The shop owner is Fondue Fribourg, a new resident of Cheddar Hollow who is extremely excited to join the merchants on Main Street. We are sure he will add a very exciting dynamic to the town with his eclectic sensibilities and style. Everyone is very excited to not only have a bookstore, but also a place to socialize with other community members in the new juice bar. Fondue is planning to create all of his delicious drinks using produce from the town garden.
One last item to share, Roquefort and Edam have almost completed the improvements on their new home and soon will be ready to start moving into their new home. It has been a labor of love restoring this old home but they are ready to settle in and move Roquefort's parents here to enjoy their retirement. We are so looking forward to welcoming Gruyere and Raclette to Cheddar Hollow.
